Celebrate YOU
An Issue based workshop programme for home educated young people
Celebrate YOU is a youth work programme of issue based workshops for young people. It aims to encourage young people to celebrate themselves (we never big ourselves up enough!), but also to recognise difference and diversity in their local communities and further afield. The programme seeks to develop a critical awareness of the world, and to build the knowledge, attitudes, values and skills necessary for their equal participation in democratic processes that will enable them to bring about the changes to issues important to them, and ensure that their voices are listened to, heard and counted.
Young people will take part in activities, discussions, workshops and debates based around the following topics and themes:
Equality, diversity, inclusion.
Identity and belonging.
Mental health and wellbeing.
Leadership, navigating conflict and cooperation.
Democracy, decision making and participation.
Understanding your rights and advocacy.
Exploring safe and healthy relationships.
I will publish the topic we will focus on in advance of each session, and share any discussion points or materials so young people have time to think abut questions or points to raise.
Why get involved?
Celebrate YOU will support young people, individually and as a group, to:
Identify and understand different issues.
Test their assumptions in a supportive environment.
Begin to formulate their own ideas and views by raising questions.
Communicate effectively with others when figuring out solutions to complex problems.
When and who can join?
Celebrate YOU is for young people aged 9 - 16. It runs throughout the year on Wednesdays 1pm - 2.30pm in blocks of 6 weeks, with a break for Christmas, Easter and the summer.
How do I sign up?
These sessions are delivered on a rolling basis, with young people able to single attend stand alone sessions paid for as and when you want to attend on a weekly basis, or book to attend a block of 6 weeks. For new members, I also offer a free taster session. Future dates and times for Celebrate YOU will be announced soon, to register your interest in these sessions and to receive more information when available, click the link below to fill in a short form:
